SANTIAGO CITY

The capital of Chile is a modern city of nearly seven million people, located at the foot of the Cordillera de los Andes.

Safe as few cities of the continent, cosmopolitan, well connected and with a great infrastructure, its transport system links all of the city, with more than 210 km of urban highways and the Metro of Santiago is one of the most modern and efficient in the world. All of this have transformed it into one of the cities with the best quality of life in South America and one of the best for doing business in Latin America.

In Santiago, you will find the best restaurants and a varied cuisine, with some of the most award-winning kitchens, in addition to entertaining neighborhoods, nightlife, museums, design shops and art galleries.

A very short distance from the city, there are modern ski centers for enjoying in the winter, the coastal cities of Valparaiso and Viña del Mar, and centuries-old wineries that produce some of the best wines in the world.

Things to do

Metropolitan Park: located in the San Cristobal hill, it is the largest urban park in the country. Also home to a Zoo, has trails for trekking, outdoor swimming pools, gardens and scenic overlooks of the city, a funicular and a modern cable car.

Civic district and historic centre: a route for learning about the origin of the city, with sites such as the Plaza de Armas, where the Cathedral, the Mail Service and the Municipality of Santiago are located. In addition, a must-see is the La Moneda Palace, headquarters of the Government, or the Santa Lucia hill, a true urban lung.

Sanhattan: the financial district, which stands out for its modern buildings, huge glass towers – including the highest in South America: Costanera Center – and works of prominent architects. It is located in the eastern area, on the edge of Providencia, Las Condes and Providencia, near the bank of the Mapocho River, and has a hectic day and night life, in addition to great restaurants.

Barrio Lastarria: of neoclassical architecture, this small neighborhood located in the Center, close to the Museum of Fine Arts and Forestal Park, brings together several design shops, restaurants of different gastronomic proposals, museums, galleries, bookstores and music stores.

Barrio Bellavista: one of the most Bohemian and entertaining neighborhoods in the Capital, it offers a variety of restaurants and pubs, theatres, clubs and stores of crafts. Also, home to one of the three houses of the poet Pablo Neruda: “La Chascona”.
