WINE IN CHILE
Geographically, Chile is many countries in one. Its array of landscapes is so ample that manages to gather, in one territory, different climates, and lands. This unusual geography makes possible the production of excellent wines, of the most varied flavors and varieties, many of which have won major awards abroad.
When Spanish conquerors arrived in Chile in the 16th century, they brought with them vines, as thus there are records of wine production from over 400 years. Currently, more than 20 varieties of grapes are grown in the country, and Chile is one of the largest producers of wine in the world.
In recent years the elaboration of wine has focused on increasing their quality, achieving excellent results in Premium wines, in addition, many wineries have opened up to tourism and receive visitors in their vineyards.
Each region of Chile is recognized for different variety of strains and each producing valley exhibits its particular characteristics.
